The COVID-19 outbreak affects all segments of the population and is particularly detrimental to the religious minority groups – there have been reports on the discrimination of religious minorities in COVID-19 relief distribution. We have received appeals for urgent monetary aid from two orphanages (Dhaka Orphanage Society, Dhaka and Manab Kalyankami Anathalaya, Netrokona) which were declined help from other non-profit organizations because of their religious status. Furthermore, you may have come across a video in social media showing poor individuals from religious minority groups being refused relief because of their religion.
The Dream for Better Tomorrow foundation (DBTF) http://dreambetter.org/ has been providing financial assistance to poor students from religious minority groups in Bangladesh. Because providing special assistance to this particular group goes well with our vision, the DBTF believes that a coordinated effort is necessary to support about 300 orphans - as well as other deprived, religious minority families from many places across Bangladesh. This coordinated effort means an inclusive contribution from all minority Bangladeshi immigrants in Canada.
Therefore, we request you to join our initiative for people suffering in these exceptional times. Contributions can be sent to your Regional Coordinators or the Fundraising Finance Coordinator Rajib Dey (rajib1682@yahoo.com).
Thank you for your understanding and support!
