The Dream for Better Tomorrow Foundation (DBTF) and its members take great pride in community services delivered to individuals across Canada from all walks of life and profession. Our main motto is to eliminate poverty through education and skill development. Our current activities highlight two program areas.
Primary Program Area: Education for Underprivileged Children linked to systemic discrimination.
Pilot project in Bangladesh that offered DBTF’s funding support for 71 students so far. Main source of funding: Scholarship/endowment offered by families living in Canada.
Why do we aim for religious minorities?
Our central motivation is aimed at helping religious minority from resource-poor families who strive to improve their living conditions. Because the Hindus, Buddhist and Christians in Bangladesh are the victims of many barbaric episodes of violences and hidden discriminations that violates basic rights, we begin our efforts with the religious minorities in Bangladesh. This may be a journey of a thousand miles that we would like to begin with a single step – “Education”. We believe education can be one of the most efficient means to alleviate poverty, and opens new opportunities for young people. Through education, they can get a better paid job, develop themselves and help their families. Supporting education may result in very effective and lasting improvement to a community.
How we select students?
-
Our team members search and make connection with inspiring students from families of religious minority living in Bangladesh, and are unable to fund their education due to their living condition and extreme poverty.
-
Immigrants of Bangladeshi origin living in Canada may also be aware of an eligible candidate from Bangladesh, and can connect with any member of our team for the necesary contact.
-
Regardless whether the student is your relative, member of your extended family or someone from your own neighborhood in Bangladesh, the Foundation aims to support the student as long as she or he meets the required criteria.
How do we aim to build a network?
-
We connect with the kind hearted donors living in Canada who are willing to contribute towards the educational expenses of the potential students.
-
Individuals can contribute to our common fund, offer scholarship in memory of their parents or other relatives or contribute directly to sponsor a student.
-
Our funds mostly come from the annual membership fee, generous donations from individuals and various fund raising events throughout the year.
